Our story
We built the platform we couldn't find.
The tools existed. The problem was they never existed together. A booking plugin here. A payment integration there. An email tool somewhere else. And a business owner in the middle, spending more time managing software than running their business.
UhuruSpace exists because that shouldn't be the story.
It started with a simple need.
Building the Bashmania website, we needed a way for clients to book our services online. So we went looking: Calendly, WordPress plugins, third-party integrations. What we found was expensive, limited, and scattered. You'd pay for one tool to take bookings, another to handle payments, another for emails, another for customers. Nothing talked to each other. Nothing felt complete.
So we built our own. First a simple plugin. Then something bigger. Then something much bigger, because once you see the real problem clearly, a small fix isn't enough. That's where UhuruSpace came from. Not from a boardroom. From a real frustration, felt by a real business owner, that millions of others feel every single day.
The name
Uhuru is a Swahili word.
It means freedom.
Not freedom in the abstract. Freedom in the practical sense. The freedom to run your business the way you want to run it: to take appointments, manage reservations, run classes, handle walk-ins, sell products, build your storefront, manage your team, and understand your customers, all from one place, without compromise.
What we're challenging
The status quo isn't good enough.
The status quo says service businesses need five different tools to run properly, and that everything beyond bookings is someone else's problem. We disagree.
No software expertise required
A business owner shouldn't need to be a software expert to run one.
One platform, not a dozen tools
You shouldn't have to stitch together a dozen integrations just to look professional.
Built for every service business
Not just for one market. For any service business, anywhere in the world.
Where we're going
Built in Tanzania. Built for the world.
Next 6 months
Ecommerce capabilities, agentic AI workflows that let your customers book through a chatbot connected directly to your business, and a growing community of service businesses running on one platform instead of five.
In 3 years
A platform used by tens of thousands of businesses globally. Not an East African tool. Not a niche product for one industry. A serious, world-class operating system for service businesses that competes with anyone, anywhere.
We're going all in. Because the potential demands it.
Built by Prosper Ngalla.
UhuruSpace is built by Prosper Ngalla, founder of Bashmania, a digital agency based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. What started as a personal frustration became a platform. What became a platform is becoming a global product.
This is a founder-led build. Every feature, every decision, every line of copy is driven by a genuine understanding of what service business owners need, because we are one.
